Environmental & Sustainability Policy

1. Our Commitment

Kim Hazzard Ltd is committed to conducting its business in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.

We recognise that our activities, including business travel, training delivery, the use of venues and accommodation, purchasing, energy use and the production of training materials, can have an environmental impact.

We aim to reduce unnecessary environmental impact wherever reasonably practicable while continuing to provide safe, effective and high-quality dangerous goods training and consultancy services.

We will consider environmental factors when making relevant business decisions and will continue to review opportunities to improve our environmental performance as the business develops.

2. Travel and Training Delivery

Travel is sometimes necessary to deliver training, consultancy, audits and DGSA services at client locations. Where practical, Kim Hazzard Ltd aims to reduce unnecessary travel and associated environmental impact.

We support the use of live virtual training and remote consultancy where these are appropriate for the service being provided and the needs of the client.

Where travel is required, we aim to plan journeys efficiently, combine activities where practical and avoid unnecessary additional journeys.

We also consider location when arranging public training courses and aim to use venues that are reasonably accessible to delegates.

3. Paper, Materials and Waste

Kim Hazzard Ltd aims to use resources responsibly and reduce unnecessary waste in the delivery of our services.

Where practical, we use electronic documents, communications and records to reduce unnecessary printing and paper use. Where printed materials are required for training, examinations or operational purposes, we aim to avoid unnecessary duplication and excessive printing.

We aim to purchase office and training materials responsibly, reuse suitable materials where practical and dispose of waste through appropriate recycling or waste streams where these are available.

We will continue to consider opportunities to reduce waste and improve the efficient use of resources within our business.

4. Energy, Venues and Suppliers

Kim Hazzard Ltd aims to consider environmental factors when selecting venues, suppliers and service providers where it is practical and proportionate to do so.

For public training courses, we use external venues and aim to make efficient use of the facilities and services provided. Where appropriate, we will consider factors such as location, accessibility, waste management and environmental practices when making purchasing and venue decisions.

We also aim to use energy and other resources responsibly within the areas of our business that are under our direct control.

We recognise that we cannot directly control the environmental practices of third-party venues and suppliers, but we can consider environmental responsibility as part of our purchasing decisions.

5. Dangerous Goods and Environmental Responsibility

As a specialist dangerous goods training and consultancy business, Kim Hazzard Ltd recognises the importance of the safe and compliant handling, storage and transport of dangerous goods in helping to protect people, property and the environment.

Through our training, consultancy and Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) services, we support clients in understanding and meeting the requirements applicable to the dangerous goods activities for which we are engaged.

Where relevant to our services, we promote appropriate practices relating to the classification, packaging, marking, labelling, documentation, handling and transport of dangerous goods.

We also recognise the particular importance of appropriate management of damaged, defective, waste and end-of-life dangerous goods, including batteries, where these fall within the scope of the services we provide.

6. Continual Improvement and Review

Kim Hazzard Ltd recognises that environmental responsibility is an ongoing process and will continue to consider practical opportunities to reduce the environmental impact of our activities.

We will review this policy periodically and as our business develops, taking account of changes to our operations, services and relevant environmental requirements.

Our approach will remain proportionate to the size and nature of our business while supporting our commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.
